Tanya Herrera
Born and raised in the Bay Area in 1984 as a first-generation Costa Rican American, Tanya has pursued art passionately since childhood. Specializing in pyrography since 2008, she expanded to leather since 2013 and bone since 2015. Pioneering "Fire Stenciling" in 2016, Tanya now explores vinyl record molding with various metal leafing and resin. Dedicated to tradition and sustainability, her pieces reflect heritage and craftsmanship.
Tanya not only is a dedicated creator, but also volunteers her time regularly to help continue the tradition of the Bay Area leading in the arts community globally. She also teaches art with a knowledge of over 30 different mediums to create safe spaces for the public to not only enjoy creating something for themselves, but as an advocate of using art as a form of therapy. She believes art is for everyone, no matter your knowledge, income or skill in the arts.
