Dr Pooja Shah
I am a creative practitioner and an academic scholar whose research interest involves Community engagement, Intergenerational learning and Storytelling, focusing on the ritualistic behaviors within domestic interior setting. I am a Lecturer in Interior Design at De Montfort University, UK. My practice-based PhD was an Interdisciplinary research that sat at the cross-over of Interior design, contemporary knitting practices and migration studies, arguing that cultural and domestic practices such as knitting, are often neglected or taken for granted thinking they have nothing much to offer. My research demonstrated that those cultural practices should not be considered as mundane, ordinary or dull; instead they are the active agents which helps a migrant to find their belongingness in the newfound place and make themselves at home.
