Peli Con
Peli Con is a comic convention that started in 2023 in New Roads, LA. Founded by Cory Daigrepont and it's co-founders are Clifton Johnston, Corey Bardsley, and the cosplay coordinator is Miss Oo La La Cosplay. The show then moved to Denham Springs in 2025. It's hosted once year.
Comic conventions started in the 1960s as small gatherings where people traded old comic books, they eventually evolved into some of the largest cultural events in the world, attracting hundreds of thousands of people.
The heart of any convention is the main exhibit area. It’s a mix of a flea market, an art gallery, a high-end department store, and comic shop. Filled with artist, creators, writers, professional cosplayers, vendors, actors & actresses, and much more.
In rooms surrounding most main halls, there are "panels". Which are scheduled Q&A sessions or presentations.
Peli Con offers all the above for the most part as well as having food vendors on site, and video games. We host video game contests, cosplay contests, a doodle contest and panels. All contest are open to all age groups. All contest have prizes as well. We also have Nerd Church the morning of the show.
"Cosplay" is short for Costume Play. Many attendees spend a lot of time building costumes to look like their favorite characters or original characters.
Doodle contest is something that Peli Con has started and been doing so for some time now. The host picks a character or topic and a timer starts. Each person is to draw the topic. Once the time is up we judge the pieces and give out winnings accordingly.
To sum it up, a comic convention is a community type of show and there is something for everyone.
