Borders Energy Agency
Borders Energy Agency (BEA) was established as a SCIO in 2012. BEA’s aims and objectives are aligned with the Scottish Government’s ambitious climate change aspirations and target date for Net Zero by 2045. In addition, BEAs activity will support national and local policies relating to climate, housing, energy, and poverty such as the Climate Change Act, Heat in Buildings Strategy, Heat Networks Act, Fuel Poverty Act, LHEES, etc.
The organisation’s purposes are:
- To provide a local source of advice, information, education, training and support on all energy matters to all sectors in the Scottish Borders
- To promote renewable energy, energy conservation, carbon reduction and sustainability to all sectors in the Scottish Borders
- To act to prevent or relieve poverty, in particular fuel poverty
- To support the advancement of education, health, community development, science and technology and environmental protection or improvement
