Maria Ashworth Founder of Bear Foot Edu
I’m Maria Ashworth, Founder of Bear Foot Ed.
My vision is to weave nature’s quiet wisdom into everything I do.
Be it my handcrafted workshops or consulting with small businesses to develop sustainable products and services.
I cultivate an environment that fosters creativity and authentic connections while sharing knowledge and understanding to help everyone adopt sustainable practices in their personal and professional lives.
My childhood was spent outside, on a farm, wearing my favourite yellow fleece-lined wellies. I have always been interested in conservation and nature, with my earliest act being trout from a polluted brook.
My Forest School training allowed me to start sharing my knowledge and enthused me to continue my studies, for example, green woodworking, woodland management for biodiversity, and therapeutic skills for outdoor leaders, to currently studying ISEP Foundation Certificate in Sustainability & Environmental Management
In April of 2025, I lost my oldest friend, a bond that had shaped much of my life, there for each other, through marriage, divorce and the roller coaster of parenting.
Grief has been a powerful motivator in starting my monthly craft groups, driven by the loss of a lifelong friend and the desire to build community through shared creativity. I hope to allow people to connect and feel comfortable being themselves.
So, that's me—an imperfect human with a creative spirit. I have a passion for the science of sustainability and climate change. I find joy in exploring how to recycle items, and I love guiding others in creating beautiful, eco-friendly crafts!
