BoSoma School of Dance
BoSoma School of Dance (BSD) has offered quality dance education since 2010 to ages three through adult. Owner, Katherine Hooper, brings her twenty-five years of teaching experience to Hamilton and Georgetown, offering a space for students to learn the art and technique of dance, to nurture their passion for dance, and to learn how to think in a creative way. Our dedicated faculty is made up of BoSoma Dance Company dancers and professionals that have achieved or are working towards a degree in dance. BSD’s programs are designed to accommodate all ages and abilities. All students, whether in the recreational or intensive program, will be closely monitored throughout the year to make sure that they are in the appropriate level and program. Our annual program focuses on learning core technique and terminology, challenging the mind/body connection through movement, as well as improvisation and choreography.
For students interested in an intensive program, rather than recreational, we offer The BoSoma Youth Company for ages 10 through 18. Students who participate are required to attend 4 to 6 hours a week of technique classes in Ballet, Modern, Contemporary, Tap, and Jazz in addition to 1 to 2 hours of rehearsals. Hip Hop and Irish Step are additional electives. BSD’s Youth Company participates in performances throughout the year such as the Move for the Movement Cancer Benefit, PULSE Convention, BoSoma's Annual Winter Concert, and local art festivals rather than dance competitions.
