The Birth Uprising

We are Jade and Alix, we have known each other for a very long time (we use to go to festivals together and get up to things our parents wouldn’t want to know about, then we hung out with our kids in the park talking about things our kids didn’t want to know about haha)

We hadn’t seen each other for years, when one swimming class we both turned up, didn’t recognise each other and carried on. Then after another swimming class we got chatting, realised we did know each other (clearly children had aged us beyond recognition) and the rest is history. We both had our second kids within a month of each other and chatted the whole way through it!

We were both Hypnobirthing and both having home births so there were a load of similarities. Although there were also many differences in our first births and the hurdles we faced, the main thing that we both identified with was the fact that we had preconceived ideas about hypnobirthing and so hadn’t given it a thought until our second pregnancies, when we wanted better.

We both had incredible second births and that’s where the Birth Uprising was born! Not long after, we started talking about how we wanted to share the Hypnobirthing practise with others, so they too could have amazing births that they are proud of no matter the twists and turns.

We both completed our instructor training and set out to bring hypnobirthing to people ‘like us’, by that we meant those who were a bit fucking sweary, not always zen and perhaps thought hypnobirthing was ‘hippy bullshit’.
