Dear Biodaddy, haastaa hedelmöityshoitoihin (Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART)) liittyvää mutkikkuutta, niiden väkivaltaista historiaa ja odottamattomia seurauksia, erityisesti Skandinavian kontekstissa. Itse teknolapsena (syntynyt keinohedelmöityksen tuloksena) taiteilija on sotkeentunut näiden käytäntöjen biopoliittisiin todellisuuksiin ja tuottaa esitystilan, jossa kohdata ja syleillä perheeseen liittyviä paradokseja. Teos on kutsu uusiin sukulaisuuksiin, jotka etsivät määrittelyjä siihen, ketä ja miten rakastaa.

Teos on performanssiluento, joka lahoaa ekoseksuaalisten utopioiden etsimiseen, pyhiinvaeltaa hedelmöittämään maapallon saaria, etsii vaihtoehtoisia tapoja rakentaa yhteisöjä ja koteja ihmisyyden ulkopuolisessa maailmassa.

Stefanía Ólafsdóttir on monialainen taiteilija, joka työskentelyn lähtökohtana on vesi elementtinä. Työskentely sukeltaa kehon nesteiden ja biopolitiikan materiaalisiin ja poliittisiin ulottuvuuksiin. Olafsdottir näkee tulevaisuuden, jossa meidän täytyy radikaalisti uudelleenajatella suhdettamme luontoon ja läsnäoloamme murtuvassa ekosysteemissä. Hyödyntäen puhepohjaista näyttämöesitystä ja maahan suuntautuvia tutkimusmatkoja, Olafsdottir haluaa leikkiä epävarman tulevaisuuden kanssa, kuvitellen ja unelmoiden uusista mahdollisuuksista, uusista sukulaisuuksista.

“Taiteellisen praktiikkani haltuunoton keskiössä on xenofeministinen ajattelu, posthumanistinen unelmointi ja queer-kuvittelu samalla kun uppoudun omaan historiaani (herstory) ja tutkin lisääntymiseen ja hedelmöityksiin liittyvää, omankin olemassaoloni mahdollistanutta toimintaa.”

Dear Biodaddy, on Olafsdottirin opinnäytetyön taiteellinen osa.

Yhteistyössä Taideyliopiston Teatterikorkeakoulu.

Saapumis- ja esteettömyystiedot

Manillan sisäpihalle voi parkkeerata maksutta liikkumisesteisen pysäköintitunnuksella varustetulla ajoneuvolla. Viinatehtaalle pääsee heti Manillan sisäpihalle tullessa vasemman puoleisesta ovesta ja esitystilaan kuljetaan loivaa luiskaa pitkin.

Manillan Vanhalle Viinatehtaalle pääsee pyörätuolilla ja tiloissa on esteetön WC. Kaikki Viinatehtaan WC-tilat ovat sukupuolineutraaleja.

‘Dear Biodaddy,’ confronts the complexities of Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART), their violent histories and unexpected consequences, particularly within Scandinavia. As a TechnoChild (born via ART) the artist is entangled in the biopolitical webs of these realities and curate a performance space to encounter and embrace the paradoxes that manifest in ideas of the familial.

It is a call for new kinship which seeks new parameters to define who and how to love.

The work is a performance lecture which decomposes into fictioning of ecosexual utopias, following a pilgrimage to inseminate the islands of the Earth in search of expanded kinships and alternative forms of community building based on technological commonality and home-making in a beyond-human world.

As an interdisciplinary artist working with water as my point of departure, Stefanía Ólafsdóttir dives into the material and political implications of bodily fluids and their biopolitical complexities. Olafsdottir sees a future in which we will have to radically rethink our relationship to nature and our place in her theatre, now that the stage is crumbling. Manifesting through staged speech performances and solo expeditions with the earth, Olafsdottir wants to play with this future, to fiction and daydream myself into new possibilities, new kinships.

“Occupying my praxis are concerns for xenofeminist thinking, post-human dreaming and queer fictioning as I delve into my personal herstory and (dis?)entangle the forms of (re)productive labour which make my being possible.”

Dear Biodaddy, is the artistic part of Ólafsdóttir’s Master’s thesis degree.

Vanha Viinatehdas is located in Manila’s courtyard (Itäinen Rantakatu 64 B) and there is a free disabled parking space in the inner yard.

All the toilets as well as disabled toilet are located in the lobby and are gender-neutral.
