Make your face feel softer, and replenished, by looking ugly for a short period of time!

About this event

OatFace Helsinki!

We (Andrew Gryf Paterson together with Laura Gustafsson) invite 8 people to come and take part in the first Finnish edition of 'OatFace' workshop series, which experiments socially with Vegan face-mask ingredients and beauty aesthetics.

The workshop is based on using an oat-porridge [suomeksi: kaurapuuro] -based paste, with other nutrient based ingredients mixed in, to make an East Asian-style sheet face-mask. It guarantees to make your face feel softer, and replenished, by looking ugly for a short period of time (30mins with mix on your face).

The participatory workshop process would begin at 11am, for 1hr, then the sheets are put in dehydrator for 5-6hrs. The workshop participants can go off and do their own thing for that afternoon, and re-convene at 18.00 to make the mask, and place it on their face for 30 mins.

Bring along an additional ingredient (e.g. enough for you and to share with a few others), to mix into your personal mask-paste. Some extra will be provided at random if you forget. It is recommended that this workshop is for age 12+

The process involves using a dehydrator (that can dry 9 sheets at one time), so there is a limited sign up of 8 persons.

The workshop fee is Donation-based Pay-What-You-Can e.g. 5-30€ to cover cost of the basic materials (porridge, agave syrup & apple pectin are the base ingredients for the masks). All kitchen materials will be provided.

This workshop session will be documented with mobile-phone resolution photos, as the plan is to host workshops in the future. Please indicate at the start of the workshop process if you don't wish your face to be documented within the sessions.

This would be the 2nd time I (Andrew) personally have made this workshop, the first time took place early April 2018, in Liepaja, Latvia, as part of food art programme from Art Research Lab/MPLab, organised together with Anna Priedola. Tervetuloa, welcome!
