About this event

"Kintsugi" is a traditional art from ancient Japan and has a deep history of over 400 years. It was born from the philosophy of Sen no rikyu's tea ceremony.

By fixing the broken piece a ceramic ware, you could feel that the "Imperfection", "Incomplete" , or the "Minimalism" are also beautiful. You experience how did the broken piece was given a "new life" by you.

Certified Kintsugi Professionalist will show you step-by-step that how to repair the damaged ceramics with a touch of gold and natural ingredients.

The workshop will PREPARE DAMAGED PIECES FOR YOU. You don't need to bring your own piece. You can take your fixed ware home or maybe choose to gift it to someone you think of.

English, Japanese, Chinese and a little Finnish :) are available during the workshop.

"Kintsugi" is a traditional art from ancient Japan and has a deep history. There are various theories about its history, but it is said that the Kintsugi technique as we know it today was born more than 400 years ago, during the Azuchi-Momoyama period to the Edo period, during the tea ceremony. The concept and philosophy of Kintsugi were born from Sen No Rikyu's tea ceramony called "Wabi cha". The "impeferction" or incomplete" is also beautiful .
