In Her Element — She Thrives
The Migrant’s Mind: A Mental Journey
Moving to a new country can be an exciting new beginning, but it can also come with challenges that are not always visible to others.
From leaving behind familiar people, places, and support systems to navigating culture shock, loneliness, identity, relationships, work, motherhood, financial pressure, and the expectations of rebuilding your life from the ground up, immigration can have a deep impact on our mental and emotional wellbeing.
The Migrant’s Mind: A Mental Journey is an intentional and honest conversation focused on the mental health experiences of immigrant women as they adjust to life in a new country.
This is a safe and welcoming space to connect, share experiences, learn from one another, and explore practical ways to protect our mental health while finding our place in a new home.
Meet the Host
The conversation is hosted by Blessing (Blair), a biologist and registered nurse in Finland who is also an immigrant and understands, from personal experience, the realities of starting over in a new country.
Her own journey has involved navigating the difficulties, uncertainty, pressure, and challenges that many immigrant women experience while trying to build a new life away from home. Beyond her personal experience, Blair has also worked with people living with mental health conditions, giving her both professional and practical insight into mental health, human behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and the importance of empathy.
This is not simply a conversation based on theory. It is rooted in real-life experiences, professional knowledge, empathy, and practical understanding.
Our Speakers
The conversation will also feature inspiring women from different backgrounds, including nurses, businesswomen, and public speakers.
Our speakers bring a combination of theoretical knowledge, professional experience, personal stories, and practical skills. Together, they will share their perspectives on mental wellbeing, resilience, identity, relationships, work, personal growth, and the realities of building a meaningful life as an immigrant woman.
You don't need to have all the answers. You don't need to have everything figured out.
Come as you are.
Come to listen.
Come to learn.
Come to connect.
Come to share, if you feel comfortable.
And most importantly, come to remember that you are more than what you have survived.
Because surviving the transition is not the same as thriving in it.
Let's talk about what it means to truly thrive.
