About this event
Come and Sing workshop at The Gregson, Lancaster
Hosted by Encounter Voices, 11 – 1, Saturday 3rd September
Join us for a come and sing workshop at The Gregson, Lancaster. A good chance to get the vocal chords going and explore some fun, contemporary sounds. We will be working with music from ground breaking musical theatre group leo&hyde from a version of their amazing Harris Museum inspired ‘Dorette: Singer, Dancer, Motion Capture’. This is leading up to a thrilling lightning project day performance at Preston’s iconic Bus Station on Saturday 17th September. This is a chance to get to know the music for the event or simply enjoy a good sing! Suitable for all singers, particularly if you are in to musicals… The workshop will be led by Musical Director Loz Kaye.

leo and hyde create modern musicals. They write pop songs and build electronic sound-worlds to tell stories about technology, modern life and future worlds. They came togther in 2017 – two northern writers (lyricist Leo Mercer and composer Stephen Hyde) with a shared desire to change the soundscape of contemporary musical theatre.
Loz Kaye is a musical director and composer with a passion for the public power of music. He is a particular specialist in community based vocal projects, and is current choir leader of Hope Mill Community Choir and Liverpool Rainbow Chorus. Previous work at Lancashire Encounter has been participatory projects “Songs of Bread, Songs of Roses”, and “Right Here, Right Now”.
