Clothing Swap Party
Date and time
You can be fashionable and sustainable!
About this event
The mainstream thinking is that to look good, you have to be constantly shopping. Fashion production makes up 10% of humanity's carbon emissions, dries up water sources, and pollutes rivers and streams. 85% of all textiles go to the dump each year (UNECE, 2018), and washing some types of clothes sends significant amount of micro plastics into the ocean. These are not new facts but the average person is trapped by the never ending ads and prompts to buy the next big thing in fashion.
But have you looked into your closet recently? Can you wear each item more than 30 times When was the last time wore that item? We all ave that fashion item that we love but we don't use. Here is your chance to give that item a new life and owner. In turn you will save somebody's fashion item from going to the dump sooner or later.
Bring up to 10 fashion items to swap with other ladies.
Rules:
- Items should be clean and in usable condition.
- Items can be clothes, shoes or bags
- You can only take home the same amount of items you brought
- No children's items are allowed this time
- No money exchange
At the start of the event, we will have a presentation about fashion conscious shopping. We will also hear about the entrepreneurship journeys of Theresia and Maria who are organizing this event for IWWOF Turku.
Seats are limited. Participation is free but registration is required!
