Amazing Agile HR Afternoon - Agile HR Product Ownership - Taster session
Event Information
About this Event
How can we lead people services and products professionally when requirements are changing around us?
In this Amazing Agile HR Afternoon taster session you will …
- Get an overview in one visualised infographic of “Agile HR Product Ownership Map” by Agile HR Community. We’ve created a map for the Agile HR Product owner of the tasks and steps they need to take to professionally own and lead a product development or service development in HR.
- In this session we’re going to follow the “Agile HR Product Ownership Map” steps and in small groups discuss the application of the map onto managing an example product.
- We’ll be guided by Riina Hellström, Enterprise Agile Coach in the main room with the help of the infographic.
- In the breakout rooms you’ll be discussing in groups of 3 people how you’d apply the learning in reality.
- Connect with global peers, sharing insights and reflections.
- Get the Agile HR Product Ownership infographic for your own personal use (copyrighted) (P.S. Please respect our material copyright. You may not share or present our training materials or infographic, use our infographic in any commercial setting, i.e. in any consulting activities, customer engagements, talks, or public sessions.)
In the beginning of the session we will:
- Assign you to a group of 3 people
- Signpost the use of a miro board to capture insights.
Please notice that you cannot join the session if your are late. The groups will work stepwise with the infographic, and missing out on the conversations in the beginning will disrupt small group work. PLEASE RESPECT THAT IF YOU ARE LATE YOU CAN’T JOIN THE SESSION, AND WILL MISS OUT.
In the beginning of the session we will:
- Assign you to a group of 5 people
- Signpost the simulation (rules, timeboxes, how to use the tools)
Thereafter the 5 person team is ready to work with these instructions throughout the session. Please notice that you cannot join the simulation if you join the session late. If you join late, you missed the signposting and introductions to your team, and you can only observe the whole simulation. (we don't have time to onboard you to the game separately). Late joiners are let into the room 20-30 minutes after the session start (2.30 UK time) - not to interrupt the signposting of the simulation.
Why is Agile HR portfolio management important?
Do you recognise some of the usual pain points in HR? Here’s how Agile portfolio management helps us lead an Agile HR Strategy.
- Employee Experience Most organisations have a high focus on employee experience now. We are co-creating, listening, gathering needs and testing small scale with employees. A fantastic product owner (PO) is professional in the discovery and empathising with users and people.
- Realising your constraints. We see a risk in the employee experience frenzy that HR professionals think they have to deliver everything to everyone. Anything the business asks for should be delivered to increase the employee and people experience. False. A great product owner knows that experimenting and hacking solutions can happen on smaller scale. When scaling up the PO will know their constraints and restrictions, and can clearly articulate them when developing the product on scale.
- Product lifecycle and changing requirements. Defining a HR product or service with the idea that it is done and ready is very old-skooooool! A People service is never ready. It is a product that is in flux, updated, changed, features are added and some features might be killed. A great product owner understands the lifecycle of the product, and can manage the development, release and retirement of the product or its features.
- Moving from reactive to proactive and value driven. A great product owner has built great metrics to follow up different aspects of their product or service touch points. The PO wants to do evidence based decision making and decide on investments to the development of the product with data. For example: Is it more important to improve the candidate communication or the salary range definitions in a recruitment process during the next quarter? A Product owner knows how to evaluate and prioritise development items, and build the product roadmap.
This taster workshop will give you an idea what HR Product Ownership is about. You will in a safe setting discuss the overview, verbally simulate the product ownership stepwise and hopefully come out from the session with plenty of ideas of how to learn more about the details.
What is a taster workshop for?
- Practical with ideas and tools to take away for immediate use
- Energetic and fun - the game is on for 2 hours, only thereafter we will stop for reflections!

- This taster is an introduction to the domain - this will give you inspiration to learn more!
P.S. This engaging workshop can be offered for in-house CoE, HR consultants or and HRBP’s too. What a fun way to create common understanding of the HR value delivery! Please contact us for pricing and availability.
