Keynote speaker
Satoru Shinagawa is a world-renowned American language educator. He is a professor of Japanese at the Kapi‘olani Community College, University of Hawaii. Satoru has been teaching Japanese online since 1999 and his research is focused on the use of technology to improve online language teaching.
Educated at the Universities of Iowa, Miami and Minnesota, he has received numerous awards and grants for his work including the Innovative Excellence award in 2005, the Innovation of Year award in 2007, and ACTFL Learning Faculty Development Program Award For Excellence In Foreign Language Instruction Using Technology with IALLT in 2016.
Satoru Shinagawa is a member of the National Council of Japanese Language Teachers. He has chaired the International Conference on Computer Assisted Systems For Teaching & Learning Japanese in 2007 and 2015.
