Organizer of Free Programs
We seek to make meditation practice accessible to everyone.Providence Zen Center was founded by Korean Zen Master Seung Sahn in 1972 and is the headquarters of theKwan Um School of Zenin the Americas. Today, the school has over 100 meditation centers worldwide and an active online community. We welcome people of all faiths as well as secular practitioners to our sangha (Zen Buddhist community). Chairs, meditation benches, and other accommodations are available for those who are unable to sit cross-legged on floor cushions during silent meditation. Leave your shoes at the door - warm socks and/or layers are recommended during cold weather.
